One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had from a soul food restaurant. So I ordered fried chicken wings and grilled chicken garden salad. Fried wings were flavorless, luckily I had hot sauce. The grilled chicken in the salad tasted like fish grease and was dry enough to use as a floatation device in a pool. I was very devastated by all of this. I will not be going back and I will also warn would be customers about their lack of quality of food. Very nasty and dry. Also critters are crawling around inside the restaurant. Not worth the trip or your money. Go elsewhere if you don’t want to be sick.

This place was amazing! The food was flavorful with great portion sizes. I loved everything about it; the ambience, the music, and of course the food. We had a waitress named Amber and she was amazing! So sweet and attentive, She took really good care of us. If you’re going to be in Charlotte you’ll want to check them out, you won’t be disappointed!

I try to make it to Mert's every time I come to Charlotte. The shrimp and grits here are fantastic. I also love the cornbread and the catfish. I highly recommend stopping in if you are in the area. Updating my review to 5 stars as the service and food has remained consistent for years. One of my favorite places to eat when I am in Charlotte.

A must visit place in the uptown. Lives up to its lofty rep and retains a shabby charm. Food is delicious, especially the salmon patties and mac and cheese. Deserts to die for. Enjoy!

Do yourself a favor and visit, then frequent tis spot. The salmon cakes are famous for a reason. I don’t usually indulge in cornbread but theirs was perfectly prepared. The food came out quickly, looked like Momma just plated it, and was seasoned just so. Restaurant staff were fun and friendly as well. 🤤
